The Story Behind The Cap

Freedom Wears Denim

Denim’s deep history goes from France to the US where it was adopted by our miners, railroad workers, and laborers and became synonymous with workwear, durability, and grit. From an industrial necessity in the late 1800s to a cultural power in the 1950s, denim became a sign of defiance, youth, and rebellion… outlawed, banned in classrooms and frowned upon by authority—yet worn anyway by those willing to take a stance. By people who built things, fixed things, and refused to be told who they were allowed to be.

Today, denim stands for freedom, resistance, and individuality, an iconic representation of working-class pride and authenticity.

"Be a renegade, go rogue."

The Rogue is quieter, sharper. Independent. Self-ruled. Much like us, this cap is on its own terms. Designed for three-season wear, it's equally at home in relaxed everyday settings and social occasions where personal style matters. Its distinctive pairing of classic denim and corduroy blends timeless workwear heritage with a modern edge. Comfortable, durable, and full of character, it's a cap that feels as authentic as the people who wear it.

Our caps are sized in CMs to get the best fit. For help measuring your head, reference this step-by-step guide.

We chose a soft denim that was designed to get better with age, much like a favorite pair of well-worn jeans. As the fabric breaks in over time, it develops character unique to its wearer. Denim has long been a symbol of individuality, craftsmanship, and everyday grit, making it a natural fit for our brand. Its enduring place in popular culture, combined with its comfort and versatility, made it a material we felt deserved a place in the collection.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Step 1: Wrap the soft tape, string, or cord around your head above your ears and eyebrows, where your cap usually sits.

Step 2: Double check to make sure the tape comes down far enough at the back of your head, hitting in the right spot.

Step 3: Take note of your measurement in CMs. If using a string or cord, mark where it meets so you can measure it using a traditional tape measure.

Step 4: Refer to the sizing chart above to see where you land.

For our comfort fit flex back caps, we always recommend sizing down. For our fitted caps, size up for a loose fit and size down if you prefer snug. Caps will usually stretch slightly, but rarely do they shrink.

Unfortunately, there is no universal sizing, so a Medium for one brand might be a Small for another. We highly recommend you measure your head to ensure you have an accurate size before ordering from Peaky Hat.

All of our caps are warehoused and shipped directly from Peoria, Illinois. If you place your order Monday through Friday before noon Eastern time, it ships out the exact same day.

We offer a 45-day window for returns and exchanges. Buying a cap online should be rewarding and enjoyable, not a risk. There is a $5 exchange fee and a $10 refund fee. If you ever have an issue, reach out to support@peakyhat.com and Ryan will handle it personally.

Our fabrics are sourced globally—from US mills to Scottish Harris Tweed and UK linens. The final stitching is done by a highly skilled team in Yiwu, China (the same district that produces caps for Stetson and Goorin Bros). We are completely transparent about this because we choose quality over optics, every time.
