The Story Behind The Cap

Working-Class Pride

Pays homage to a style that blessed the streets and steps of Brooklyn in the early 1900’s. While the well-to-doers moved towards class defining ‘Boater’ and ‘Derby’ caps… the blue-collar families wore the flat cap with pride, rolled up sleeves, and hard-working attitudes. This cap is an extension of who we are, the working class, the ‘get shit done’ generation. This cap is Peaky Hat, this cap is you.

"A cap with a lunch pail attitude."

Inspired by the hardworking spirit of early 1900s Brooklyn, this cap pays tribute to the blue-collar men and women who wore their newsboys with pride. Designed for three-season wear, it's the perfect companion for backyard gatherings, family outings, trips to the pub, and any occasion where authentic style matters. This material is a traditional tweed weave with subtle two-tone texture that appears rugged, yet feels incredibly soft to the touch. Timeless, understated, and full of character – this is a cap built for the working class and those who still carry that spirit today.

Our caps are sized in CMs to get the best fit. For help measuring your head, reference this step-by-step guide.

We chose this tweed because it embodies everything we love about the heritage of the flat cap while feeling perfectly suited for today. The pattern serves as a nod to the fabrics and styles that inspired the era, not as a strict recreation, but as an homage to its character and spirit. Beyond its timeless appearance, this tweed stood out for its exceptional softness and natural drape, creating a cap that is both comfortable and refined. Simply put, the tweed speaks for itself, delivering heritage, texture, and craftsmanship in every detail.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Step 1: Wrap the soft tape, string, or cord around your head above your ears and eyebrows, where your cap usually sits.

Step 2: Double check to make sure the tape comes down far enough at the back of your head, hitting in the right spot.

Step 3: Take note of your measurement in CMs. If using a string or cord, mark where it meets so you can measure it using a traditional tape measure.

Step 4: Refer to the sizing chart above to see where you land.

For our comfort fit flex back caps, we always recommend sizing down. For our fitted caps, size up for a loose fit and size down if you prefer snug. Caps will usually stretch slightly, but rarely do they shrink.

Unfortunately, there is no universal sizing, so a Medium for one brand might be a Small for another. We highly recommend you measure your head to ensure you have an accurate size before ordering from Peaky Hat.

All of our caps are warehoused and shipped directly from Peoria, Illinois. If you place your order Monday through Friday before noon Eastern time, it ships out the exact same day.

We offer a 45-day window for returns and exchanges. Buying a cap online should be rewarding and enjoyable, not a risk. There is a $5 exchange fee and a $10 refund fee. If you ever have an issue, reach out to support@peakyhat.com and Ryan will handle it personally.

Our fabrics are sourced globally—from US mills to Scottish Harris Tweed and UK linens. The final stitching is done by a highly skilled team in Yiwu, China (the same district that produces caps for Stetson and Goorin Bros). We are completely transparent about this because we choose quality over optics, every time.
