The Story Behind The Cap

Born In Coal And Smoke

Inspired by the coal-stained streets and relentless spirit of Small Heath, Made with a deep dark charcoal tweed, this cap represents the coal that fuels the factories, the dark smoke pouring from the stacks, and the soot that blankets the streets and the buildings of Small Heath.

"Let the world take notice, you are here to stay."

A charcoal tweed, no fuss, no frills, just pure grit. Rough, rugged, yet smooth and surreal. In a traditional single panel ivy shape, we honor tradition with a modern cut.

This cap embodies the fire, and the unbreakable will of those who built the world around us.

Our caps are sized in CMs to get the best fit. For help measuring your head, reference this step-by-step guide.

Tweed is a fabric steeped in tradition, prized for generations for its distinctive texture, durability, and character. Whether crafted from wool-poly blends or wool-cotton-poly blends, working with tweed requires a careful balance of natural and modern fibers to achieve both heritage appeal and everyday performance. Wool provides warmth, depth, and the rich visual character that defines classic tweed, while cotton contributes softness and comfort, and polyester enhances durability, shape retention, and resilience.

The craftsmanship lies in weaving these fibers into intricate patterns and textures that have long been associated with the countryside, industry, and working-class heritage. The result is a fabric that feels substantial without being heavy, refined without losing its rugged roots.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Step 1: Wrap the soft tape, string, or cord around your head above your ears and eyebrows, where your cap usually sits.

Step 2: Double check to make sure the tape comes down far enough at the back of your head, hitting in the right spot.

Step 3: Take note of your measurement in CMs. If using a string or cord, mark where it meets so you can measure it using a traditional tape measure.

Step 4: Refer to the sizing chart above to see where you land.

For our comfort fit flex back caps, we always recommend sizing down. For our fitted caps, size up for a loose fit and size down if you prefer snug. Caps will usually stretch slightly, but rarely do they shrink.

Unfortunately, there is no universal sizing, so a Medium for one brand might be a Small for another. We highly recommend you measure your head to ensure you have an accurate size before ordering from Peaky Hat.

All of our caps are warehoused and shipped directly from Peoria, Illinois. If you place your order Monday through Friday before noon Eastern time, it ships out the exact same day.

We offer a 45-day window for returns and exchanges. Buying a cap online should be rewarding and enjoyable, not a risk. There is a $5 exchange fee and a $10 refund fee. If you ever have an issue, reach out to support@peakyhat.com and Ryan will handle it personally.

Our fabrics are sourced globally—from US mills to Scottish Harris Tweed and UK linens. The final stitching is done by a highly skilled team in Yiwu, China (the same district that produces caps for Stetson and Goorin Bros). We are completely transparent about this because we choose quality over optics, every time.
